The NBA All Star Portraits Are the Worst New Album Press Photos Ever

The NBA’s best and brightest are descending on New Orleans for the annual All-Star Game and each player got their own, super-moody portrait taken that reminds me of all the awful, forced press photos you see floating around from [insert artist supporting new album here].

Just look at Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis up there. His minimalist, indie dream-pop record will be out this June just in time for his Thursday evening slot at Bonnaroo where he’ll most certainly wear that exact outfit in the dead of the Tennessee summer, nearly succumbing to heat exhaustion.

Meanwhile, New Orleans Pelicans’ Anthony Davis wants to show you his sensitive side on his new record drawn from a personal experience he’d rather not directly refer to in the press.

Keep an eye out for Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker, whose debut album hits in August just before his massive tour kickoff at Brooklyn’s Rough Trade. Booker’s progressive rock sound gives “math rock” lovers (also known as Umphrey’s McGee fans) a whole new flavor of the week. Will it last? We shall see.

Steph Curry makes his highly-anticipated comeback this fall with an album that finds him reuniting with his original band. He’s had a tough time ever since breaking up the original group, but he’s back to make amends and wants you to know it with that smile.

Kevin Durant’s controversial decision to leave his longtime band, the first band he ever knew, sent shockwaves through the music world but here he is–releasing Survivor, a LP about perseverance and self-determination. Durant had to strip down his protective wall and bare his soul to the listeners in order to find himself. Wait, this actually sounds real….

Marc Gasol spent years on the indie circuit making stripped-down, moody music but his latest project finds him ditching the long, shaggy hair for a clean cut look. His music reflects it as Gasol tries his hand at pop music, due out Spring 2018.
