The National Deliver Official Video for “Day I Die”

August 30, 2017

The National continue to roll towards their new album Sleep Well Beast with the new video for “Day I Die,” a popular live track on their tour thus far as they preview new material.

The particularly trippy video was directed by Casey Reas, utilizing photographer Grham MacIndoe’s work at the band’s intimate show at LeCentquatre in Paris. MacIndoe and Reas then compiled 5,000 images, compressing them into a video software. “A flickering color layer abstracted from broadcast television signals augments the black and white footage,” he said. “The images are played back at 12fps, near the threshold of the persistence of vision.”
