The Grateful Dead have topped the charts…..sort of. 

Billboard reports that the Dead’s Record Store Day live release of their July 29, 1966 show at the P.N.E. Garden Auditorium was the top-selling RSD exclusive vinyl this year, followed by The Doors’ Live at the Matrix and Black Angels’ Deathsong. 

All in all, this was an encouraging Record Store Day (which took place on April 22) as Billboard also notes that vinyl sales grew 213% at the end of April, marking the biggest week for vinyl sales (excluding the holiday season) since Nielsen Music began tracking in 1991. Vinyl album sales at indie record stores also rose 484%, representing the largest gain for such a statistic in Record Store Day’s history.
