Song Premiere: Tim Reynolds “Manfood”

January 4, 2017

Tim Reynolds’ new acoustic CD, will be released this Friday, January 6. That Way collects 14 original tunes, in which Reynolds moves between his six- and twelve-string guitars. Reynolds recorded the new record in between stints with the Dave Matthews Band, his duo gigs with Matthews and performances with his own TR3. Today we premiere “Manfood” from the forthcoming record, which is now available for pre-order.

Reynolds tells Relix, “The name ‘Manfood’ is completely tongue-in-cheek. Even though you don’t hear drums, I’m playing the universal, eternal man groove. It has roots in African music, Irish jigs, and marches. It’s also the same groove you hear in Stevie Ray Vaughan tunes, Marilyn Manson’s ‘Beautiful People,’ and the Beatles’ ‘Old Brown Shoe.  I started with one lick, then one riff, and then I added some variations. I jotted things down, put it away, came back and noodled around, did two or three improvs, and then I had ‘Manfood.’”
