Song Premiere: The Jerry Douglas Band “Cavebop”

June 7, 2017

Jerry Douglas will return with What If, a new collection of songs that combines many of the genre-bending artist’s influences from bluegrass to country, blues, swing, rock and soul. The album spans Douglas’ vast musical history including songs co-written with Bela Fleck and covers of Billy Roberts’ folk tune “Hey Joe” that also became famous thanks to Jimi Hendrix.

Today, we premiere a new song from that record “Cavebop” available to stream below.

As Douglas tells Relix, “‘Cavebop’ is an experiment employing Bebop Jazz improv with a dash of Bluegrass for good measure. Fred Flintstone meets Charlie Parker.”

The tracklisting and Douglas’ upcoming tour dates appear below the stream.
