Richmond, VA’s The Congress has gained increased notoriety opening shows for Tedeschi Trucks Band, Hard Working Americans and Lake Street Dive. On September 9 the quartet will release their sophomore album, The Game, via American Paradox. The album is now available for pre-order via iTunes along with the label’s website, and one can receive an instant download of the title track, which we are premiering today.

The group’s Scott Lane tells Relix, “‘The Game’ was the first tune I wrote with the new record in mind — one of those tunes that just jumps out of you in two minutes. It was just a fictitious distillation of some feelings I had about good people who shine in the face of adversity and injustice — maybe wanting more of them in the world, and the importance of being a good person, staying the course, regardless of the size and scope of your influence.”
