Song Premiere: Madaila “Secret”

September 30, 2016

Burlington-based psych-pop quintet, Madaila will release their sophomore album, Traces, on November 4. The group will celebrate the release of the record at Brooklyn Bowl on October 27, while opening for Twiddle. Madaila came together in 2014, through of efforts of co-founders and childhood friends Mark Daly (lead vocals, guitar) and Eric Maier (vocals, keys) following the demise of their prior band Chamberlin. Madaila’s upbeat sound is synth-heavy, although each of the group’s five members is a skilled drummer.

Today we premiere “Secret” from the forthcoming record. Daly tells Relix, “While most of the songs from Traces were brand new to the band when we started recording, ‘Secret’ is an exception. We actually debuted this song at the release party of ourfirst record, The Dance, at City Hall in Burlington in March of 2015. We’ve been experimenting and honing in on this song for so long that we all had a really good grasp on it when we finally came to record it in the studio. We tried the best we could to capture the live elements of the band that are so important to us. It is long and has some seriously freaky qualities. We jam out.”
