Song Premiere: Jonah Smith “Easy Prey”

May 20, 2016

Longtime Relix favorite Jonah Smith will release a new studio album today. He will mark the occasion with a special performance at Manhattan’s Highline Ballroom. Today we share an exclusive stream of “Easy Prey,” the record’s title track  (the album is available via iTunes and Amazon). Smith describes the song as “near and dear to my heart. It’s for people living on the edge and taking risks: ‘We live our lives / dodging throwing knives / On the circus high dive / And on the streets until morning.’ It features a singer who I met when I moved to LA. Her name is Holly Palmer. We sang a duet at a random gig in LA and I fell in love with her voice. I only recently discovered that she was David Bowie’s back up singer. Makes sense since she’s so unique. It also features Adam Levy, one of my all time fave guitar players. He played with Norah Jones for years and plays on Tracy Chapman’s ‘Give Me One Reason.’ His solo on this song will be something I will be listening to forever.”
