Singer-songwriter David Childers will release his new album Run Skeleton Run on May 5 and today we’re excited to premiere the title track from that album. Produced by early R.E.M. production team of Don Dixon, the album also features a guest appearance from Scott Avett of The Avett Brothers. 

On the song, “I painted a bunch of skeleton pictures in 2015 and 2016. This big one seemed to be begging for some words to be painted on it and the phrase “run skeleton run” just jumped into my mind. It struck me that those words were a good phrase to build a song around. I remembered going up to my father’s old home place in Lenoir, NC back in the mid-1950s; there was an ancient woman there who was a great great aunt, and one time I sat with her and a bunch of other children in a room where the only light came from a wood stove. In a creaky, scary voice she told us about “bloody bones.” The name was about all I remember but it scared me enough to never forget — and I think it creeped into this song.”
