Denver-based Cycles draws on influences that range from Primus to Phish to Marcus Miller to Black Sabbath. This Friday the heavy psych-rock-fusion trio will release their debut full-length, Vacation. Cycles recorded the record at Mountain Star Studio in Blackhawk, CO, and Vacation captures their expansive sound and gift for crafting entrancing hooks. Today we premiere “The Ruminator” from the forthcoming record, which the band will celebrate with an album release event at Cervantes’ Other Side this Saturday, June 3.

The band’s Tucker McClung tells Relix, “I had the bass line floating around in my head for a while and thought it was pretty catchy. To ‘ruminate’ is to think deeply about something over and over again. The lyrics are about compulsive thought patterns and how they can either spiral out of control or bring you back to a peaceful place.”
