Song Premiere: Amos Lee “Til You Come Back Through”

July 21, 2016

Amos Lee
’s new record, Spirit, will be available August 19 on John Varvatos Records/Republic Records. This is Lee’s sixth full-length album but the first that he produced himself, and it draws on a range of sounds that have influenced him. As he explains, “I grew up listening to mostly 90s R&B, and hip hop. When I got my first acoustic guitar in college I dug deep into Prine, Joni Mitchell, Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and Townes Van Zant, but my love for R&B never wavered. I started listening to a lot of Earth, Wind, and Fire, Al Green (Belle era), and Bill Withers, and got more feel for major 7 chords, and less straight ahead, folky, chord progressions. When I wrote “Till You Come Back Through” I was pretty inspired by “Simply Beautiful” by Al Green, and other slinky ballad type stuff that’s acoustic guitar based. The rhythm section, led by Jaron Olevsky’s gorgeous arrangement, really set the scene for me to deliver the vocal, which was so much fun to sing. I was really lucky to have such talented, generous souls on this record.”

Today we premiere “Til You Come Back Through” from Spirit (which is now available for pre-order via iTunes and Amazon). Lee will embark on a national headlining tour in September with the dates listed below the stream.
