Six Years Ago: Phish Bust Out ZZ Top’s “La Grange” at SPAC

Raffaela Kenny-Cincotta | July 09, 2018

Six years ago, Phish celebrated their third consecutive night at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center by resurrecting their cover of "La Grange" by ZZ Top.

The band busted out this rock and roll classic as a first set closer, making it the first "La Grange" since September 22, 1999. If you're counting, that's a gap of 301 shows. And while the song was performed by the Vermont Quartet consistently in 1989 and 1990, this 7/8/2012 performance is the last "La Grange" on record.

However, with summer tour on the horizon, who knows? Maybe Phish will bring this cover back into the limelight once more.
