Sometimes you’re watching the Stanley Cup Final, go to the fridge to get another beer and hear something oddly familiar playing during the commercial break. Sure enough, that’s what happened to me last night during the first period of the Penguins and Sharks. God Bless the rewind feature because I was able to go back and find that this particular Lincoln MKZ commercial featured none other than Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings covering the Allman Brothers’ “Midnight Rider.” 

If that wasn’t enough, the glorious mug of Matthew McConaughey flashes by as Jones and the band hit the chorus, making me think that he is in fact the Midnight Rider Gregg Allman was singing about all those years ago. If you needed another confirmation that McConaughey is ageless, now you have it.
