Tonight, Pearl Jam hits the stage at the U.S. Bank Arena Cincinnati, signaling the start of their fall tour. Today, frontman Eddie Vedder hung out with some of the local baseball team’s heroes, including the legendary would-be-a-hall-of-famer-if-it-weren’t-for-that-betting-thing Pete Rose at the Green Diamond Gallery, the 5,000 square-foot baseball memorabilia mecca. Joining Vedder and Rose was former Reds players Sean Casey, Bronson Arroyo and Chris Welsh, the Reds’ broadcaster and former player.

The note accompanying the picture (via Cincinnati.com) mentioned that the night ended with Vedder and Bronson Arroyo on guitar. Now, this is where things get fascinating. Arroyo, a lifelong Pearl Jam fan, actually got to perform with Vedder at one of his solo shows in Orlando. The pitcher details the happening in an interview with AlternativeNation.net, saying that Vedder pulled him up on stage without even practicing to perform the classic Pearl Jam tune “Black.”

Check out Bronson’s version of “Black” and let’s stay tuned to see if he manages to sneak on stage tonight during the band’s show. Or maybe he’ll give Vedder cornrows because, he has some experience with that. One can also wonder if Vedder prefers Arroyo over Jack White and Paul Simon. My guess? Probably not.
