Phish Debut Tom Waits Cover and Take “Mike’s Song” Deep at Baker’s Dozen

Yet again, each set opener last night provided something special as Phish kicked off their “hole” night (where the crowd was given donut holes upon entry) with a debut cover of Tom Waits’ “Way Down in a Hole” (also known as The Wire theme song) along with a mega “Mike’s Song” that once again revived the song’s famed second jam.
It’s just yet another pair of highlights in a run full of them, as “Way Down in a Hole” joins a long list of debuts and “Mike’s Song” joins a just-as-long list of 20+ minute jams played on this run.
