MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough Shows Off Musical Talent with Jon Batiste and Stay Human, Covers Elvis Costello on ‘Colbert’

February 22, 2017

Host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough, appeared on Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night to talk politics mostly of course, but the interview closed with Scarborough flexing his musical talent with house band Jon Batiste and Stay Human.

“I hear you’re an Elvis Costello fan,” Scarborough told Colbert as the host outed his guitar skills and even name-dropped his band Morning Joe Music. “I’ve never played ‘(What’s So Funny About) Peace, Love and Understanding.’ The words though are so appropriate right now,” he said before joining up with Batiste and Stay Human to play the show out with Costello’s cover of the Nick Lowe track.

Scarborough recently found his name on this site when his show forayed into a discussion about Phish, Widespread Panic and the Grateful Dead, to which he declined to be labeled as a fan of all three, noting that he prefers his songs to be a “minute and a half tops.”
