On May 20, the indie rock/Grateful Dead bible will be delivered to your doorstep in the form of Day of the Dead, a 59-track compilation of Dead tunes curated by the Dessner brothers of The National.

Now, you can get a first glimpse into that project with newly released tracks including The War on Drugs’ version of “Touch of Grey” as well as Phosphorescent teaming with Jenny Lewis and others on a groovy and rhythmic “Sugaree.” While it’s odd to say Bruce Hornsby “covers” the Dead, as he was once a member, the pianist does lead the way on a “Black Muddy River” with Megafaun and Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon.

Aussie rocker Courtney Barnett shines on “New Speedway Boogie” while album curators The National get extra moody with a stunning “Morning Dew.” Listen below.

“Touch of Grey” | The War on Drugs

“Sugaree” | Phosphorescent, Jenny Lewis and Friends

“Black Muddy River” | Bruce Hornsby and DeYarmond Edison

“New Speedway Boogie” | Courtney Barnett

“Morning Dew” | The National
