After announcing his renewed partnership with Warner Bros. Records, Prince delivered his latest single “The Breakdown” in the wee hours of Friday night. After sticking to higher-energy songs for his previous releases, this track plays more like a ballad, showcasing Prince’s wide vocal range. As previously reported, The Purple One will release his new studio album PLECTRUMELECTRUM later this year and will also reissue Purple Rain in honor of its 30th anniversary. Also in the Warner Bros. deal comes the promise that a “goldmine” of unreleased material will be put out to the world. As is the case in the Prince world since day one: Stay tuned.
