Listen: Portgual. The Man Release “Sumatran Tiger” For Earth Day

Rob Slater on April 22, 2014

As today is Earth Day, musicians and earthlings alike will gather to honor the world we live in. Portugal. The Man is taking that notion one step further, as the Alaskan rockers released “Sumatran Tiger” especially for Earth Day. The “endangered song” is designed to raise awareness for the Sumatran tiger, a very endangered species at the moment. There are only 400 Sumatran tigers left in the wild, which is why the Smithsonian National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute collaborated with PTM to create a record that will go extinct unless it’s reproduced.

For all 400 tigers remaining, there are 400 records created. Visit the Endangered Song website for more information about the cause and how to keep the song, and tigers, alive. In the meantime, the band is encouraging fans to download and share the song so it stays alive. Watch, download and share.
