Mad Men star (and Dr. Andrew Baird in 30 Rock) Jon Hamm visited with Jimmy Pardo for the recent and season finale episode of his Never Not Funny podcast. Along with television and movie talk, Hamm dipped briefly into the nostalgia that remains of his music fandom, referencing many acts and songs from the 90s.

The conversation started when Pardo mentioned that a member of Toad the Wet Sprocket is a big fan of his, which led the cast into recalling their big hit (“All I Want”) and then launching into other acts and their various impressions of lead singers. “So, for a portion of the 90s, everyone sang out of the side of their mouth like Eddie Vedder,” Hamm said.

He then went on to recount his brief Blues Traveler fandom. “I had a moment the other day where I was arrested at the computer because for some reason I was like, ‘Wait a minute, this thing actually happened, right? We all liked Blues Traveler for a solid couple of years.’,” Hamm said. “It wasn’t like The Spin Doctors like ‘okay that was an error in judgement, we’re dialing that back.’ We like doubled down on Blues Traveler.”

Hamm went on to say that he thinks John Popper is a “phenomenal harmonica player” and is the “Chewbacca of harmonica players.”

Music talk with Hamm begins at around the 1:20:00 mark.
