Listen: Howard Stern Dives Into Phish’s Music with Predictable Results

Rob Slater on October 21, 2014

Yesterday on The Howard Stern Show, the host played a recording of his correspondent Wolfie interviewing select Phish fans on the lot at The Mann Center this summer. As you’d expect, the results were quite interesting. What was missing was actual discussion about the music, so today they decided to deep dive into Phish’s catalog. Much like yesterday, the results were fairly predictable.

The songs played included “Divided Sky,” “Simple,” “Limb By Limb,” “Stash,” “Walls of the Cave” (introduced as “Walls of the One” for some reason) and Howard didn’t seem to enjoy any of them entirely. While he complimented the musical prowess, once the band started singing, he was almost immediately turned off. Even when Phish’s version of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” was played, he didn’t get on board, although he did praise the band’s taste in Halloween covers while Robin waxed poetic about their apparent lack of musical talent. Oh well, Howard, maybe next time.

Head over to the 23-minute mark for all the Phish talk you can handle.
