After last week saw Foo Fighters release the first studio track from their forthcoming Sonic Highways, “Something From Nothing,” today welcomes another new track–“The Feast and the Famine.” The tune, which the band will perform tonight at the end of the episode of their Sonic Highways episode, is centered around Washington, DC. Grohl references “monuments” as well as the “revolution” that occurred in DC over the years as the underground punk rock scene rose to prominence, ultimately spawning bands like Fugazi, Minor Threat, Bad Brains and more. Some members of the various punk rock factions appear in the episode, set to air tonight, including Ian MacKaye, guitarist for Fugazi and the brains behind Dischord Records.

Much like the first episode, which touched on Dave Grohl’s early musical experiences, this one also hits home as he grew up not far from the nation’s capital and played his first gig in DC. Musically, the song is much harder than “Something From Nothing,” featuring some riffs reminiscent of their last effort, Wasting Light.
