Thursday night featured the 3rd annual Shorty Fest at Generations Hall. Shorty Fest is a benefit concert designed to raise funds for the Trombone Shorty Foundation to make sure young people in New Orleans have access to instruments and teachers. The show featured sets from “Hail to the Chief” Celebrating the legacy of Big Chief Monk Boudreaux with the Golden Eagles Mardi Gras Indians and featuring Davell Crawford, June Yamagishi, Kirk Joseph, Nick Daniels, Raymond Weber, Luther Dickson (of N. Mississippi Allstars) and Billy Kreutzmann (of the Grateful Dead), followed by Trombone Shorty Academy Students and then Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue with Ivan Neville.
