Jason Isbell showcased one of the heaviest tunes from his latest The Nashville Sound last night on Late Show with Stephen Colbert as Isbell and the 400 Unit delivered “Hope the High Road.” 

Isbell previously spoke to Relix about the record, particularly noting that “Hope the High Road” came in at the end of the record to give the listener a more hopeful note to end on. “I don’t want to send me off feeling too miserable,” he said. “But if my problems were all solved and everybody else’s problems were solved, it’d be hard for me to find anything to write about.”

Isbell and the band are in New York to kick off a three night run at the Beacon Theatre, which will commence tomorrow night. The group will be on tour much of the year.
