Jason Aldean Opens _Saturday Night Live_ with Emotional “I Won’t Back Down”

Jason Aldean, who was on stage when the horrific Las Vegas attack began, returned to the stage (Aldean has since canceled his tour) last night on Saturday Night Live to not only pay homage to those who passed away that night, but also to honor the late Tom Petty.
Saturday Night Live has always been good at these types of moments (remember Kate McKinnon’s stirring rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” as Hillary Clinton) and this one was as good as ever as Aldean delivered a promising, unifying speech before diving into one of Petty’s biggest rallying cries.
