James Dolan Misses the NBA Draft for a Gig Because Music is Life

Knicks fans can barely turn on their televisions without the searing image of Phil Jackson’s smug face burning a hole through their souls and as it turns out, owner James Dolan needed to get away last night too during the NBA Draft. 

While the Knicks were sending in their eighth overall pick of Frank Ntilikina of France, Dolan was rocking out at City Winery with his band JD and the Straight Shot. A peculiar choice for an owner to be removed from a team in the midst of incredible turmoil but hey, when you’re the guy who writes the checks I guess you can do whatever you want. 

No word if Dolan’s song “Fix the Knicks” made it into the setlist last night, but here’s a clip.
