Jake Cinninger Transcends The Fillmore Stage on This “Comfortably Numb” from Umphrey’s McGee’s NYE Run

January 3, 2018

Umphrey’s McGee’s Jake Cinninger is good at guitar. We’ve told you this many times before, and Cinninger doesn’t show any signs of stopping, so I’d guess we’ll tell you many times again.

To help ease everyone into the new year and back into the real world, Umphrey’s McGee have kindly shared a video of Cinninger’s triumphant solo that closed out their cover of Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb” at their December 29 encore at The Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, which opened up their three-night New Year’s Eve run at the venue.

To be fair, the video shows more than the solo, but let’s face it: the whole song is all just build up to support Cinninger’s explosive finale. Accompanied by Jefferson Waful’s spotlight and always impressive light show, Cinninger transcended the Fillmore stage and delivered a powerful close to night one.
