Joe Russo’s Almost Dead’s March Madness run at Brooklyn Bowl included a nod to the Allman Brothers, a mainstay in March at the nearby Beacon Theatre, as Oteil Burbridge led the band through a take on “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed” during the March 18 show. 

Burbridge was filling in for usual Almost Dead bassist Dave Dreiwitz, who had prior commitments with his day job in Ween. The ABB cover landed in the middle of a lengthy “Here Comes Sunshine” jam and was played with the type of reverence for the tune that you’d expect.
