Here’s Your First Look at Dead & Company in 2017
Dead & Company returned to the stage over the weekend with their first of two shows on the summer tour that’ll take them across the country, giving us our first glimpse at the 2017 edition of the group.
Starting at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the band kicked off a run that saw them pay tribute to the late Gregg Allman, who passed away earlier that day, with a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” as images of the famed Southern rocker were displayed on the arena’s screens. In one of the night’s more expansive moments, a sprawling “Bird Song” closed the first set.
The following night in Phoenix, Dead & Co put the songs first in an up-tempo, rock-oriented show that included a notable “Sugaree” as well as the anthemic closing “Touch of Grey.”
Watch a selection of those tunes below.
