Here’s the Bob Dylan Song Paul McCartney Would Love to Cover

November 30, 2016

On his website, Paul McCartney is nice enough to take questions from some fans every now and then. His latest came from Guillem, who asked what Bob Dylan song he would cover in light of Dylan’s participation in The Art of McCartney. Dylan covered the Beatles’ “Things We Said Today” for the record.

“That’s a very difficult question to answer,” Sir Paul said. “As there are so many great songs. ‘Mr. Tambourine Man’ comes to mind because it’s something you could cover.” He continued, “Singing Dylan songs can be difficult because something like ‘Like A Rolling Stone’, it’s so Dylan that it would be hard to get the spirit that he puts on it. ‘A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall’ is another good one, you know. I’d put that on a list as well.”

When the inevitable ob Dylan tribute album comes, hopefully McCartney is on there offering his take on the Dylan classic. Watch below as the Beatles talk about Dylan’s influence, with McCartney calling him their “idol.”
