Janis Joplin’s time on this planet was much shorter than anyone could’ve hoped but she made the most of her 27 years here, giving us one memorable performance after the other including this “Turn On Your Lovelight” with the Grateful Dead on July 16, 1970, just a few months before her untimely death.
Throughout the 18 minutes, you can’t help but marvel at the chemistry between Joplin and Pigpen as the ensemble rips through a standout version of the song.
