Video Premiere (Halloween Special): The Lucy Ring “Make It Rain”

October 31, 2016

The Lucy Ring have just released their debut self-titled EP. Charlotte Kemp Muhl (The Ghost of a Saber Tooth) produced the new record at Sean Lennon and Yoko Ono’s upstate NY studio. Today we premiere the official video for the group’s song “Make It Rain,” which feels altogether appropriate for All Hallows’ Eve. Tijuana filmmaker Luis Mercado directed the video which  pays homage to Alejandro Jodorowsky’s film El Topo along with spaghetti westerns. It includes a brief cameo from Shorty Rossi, the star of the Animal Planet show Pit Boss.

The band tells Relix, “We filmed it over three days at a place called Rancho Harriman in La Mission, Baja, Mexico. We are all big fans of spaghetti westerns and also trippy filmmakers like Jodorowsky and David Lynch, so we just brainstormed and came up with a very weird, loose story line. It was a lot of work and pretty crazy but super fun. None of the band was that comfortable on horseback so the Mexican vaqueros (cowboys) had a good laugh watching us struggle to not fall off and die. We even got to rub shoulders with some real Hollywood players… Shorty Rossi, makes a generous cameo and one of the horses, named Flash, was briefly in the Beyonce and Jay-Z video for Bonnie and Clyde. Pretty great company. “

The new record is now available via iTunes and Amazon.
