Forty Years Ago, the Grateful Dead Debuted “Terrapin Station”

February 26, 2017

This year, Phil Lesh will stage a celebration of the Grateful Dead’s Terrapin Station record at Lockn’ Festival with the help of the Terrapin Family Band, honoring the 40th anniversary of the album. On this day forty years ago at the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino, CA, the band came out on stage and busted into the very first version of the song that would become one of their live staples.

Listen to that recording from that night (which also included the first “Estimated Prophet” too) below.
