Five Grateful Dead Covers at DelFest Over the Years

DelFest kicks off today in Cumberland, MD, one of the true “family” festivals in the entire landscape. This year, Del McCoury will welcome Tedeschi Trucks Band, Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers, Greensky Bluegrass, Yonder Mountain String Band, The Infamous Stringdusters with Nicki Bluhm and many others, along with performing with his own band.

Over the years, DelFest has attracted many of the premiere names in the jamband world and with that, of course, comes a slew of unique Grateful Dead covers. While many of the Dead’s traditional bluegrass and blues covers were also translated by others, the more unique renditions come when bands dig into the Dead’s own catalog, as you’ll see below.

The Travelin’ McCourys | “Loser”

Greensky Bluegrass | “Eyes of the World”

Dead Winter Carpenters w/Cabinet | “Friend of the Devil”

Keller Williams & Friends | “Scarlet Begonias”

The Infamous Stringdusters | “He’s Gone”
