Seven Top Lockn’ Collaborations

February 17, 2016

The lineup for Lockn’ 2016 is finally here and the festival is upping its game with two nights of Phish, Ween, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead and many others who will make their debut at the Arrington, VA festival. In a way, the initial lineup signifies a fresh start as previous years mainstays like The String Cheese Incident and Widespread Panic replaced by rockers My Morning Jacket, the newly reunited Ween and newcomers like White Denim and Vulfpeck.

For the first three years, Lockn’ made its mark by producing some of the most unexpected collaborations out there. Blending genres and reuniting old bandmates, you got a little bit of everything over the weekend on the farm in Virginia. Last year especially the festival was anchored by a pair of tributes that brought together a wide cast of musicians, as the great Joe Cocker was honored by Tedeschi Trucks Band and the members of Jefferson Airplane (most, at least) came together with special guests to honor 50 years of music from the Airplane. Over the years, the festival has also brought together unique pairings like Zac Brown and The String Cheese Incident, Trey Anastasio and Furthur, Carlos Santana and Phil Lesh, among countless others.

Take a look at seven of the best collaborations over the first three years of the festival.

Tedeschi Trucks Band & Friends | Mad Dogs & Englishmen Tribute (2015)

Trey and Furthur (2013)

Billy & The Kids with Bob Weir (2015)

Furthur with Zac Brown (2013)

Jefferson Airplane Tribute (2015)

Widespread Panic with Steve Winwood (2014)

The Doobie Incident (The String Cheese Incident with The Doobie Brothers) (2015)
