First Look: Stevie Van Zandt Reflects on The Upstage in New Doc that Premieres Friday

Here’s a first look at the documentary Just Before the Dawn, making its world-premiere this Friday, April 21 at the 2017 Asbury Park Music and Film Festival. The film is about the history of The Upstage, the music venue that launched the careers of Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Van Zandt, Southside Johnny and many others. In this clip Van Zandt steps foot into The Upstage for the first time in 47 years. The Upstage was the original Jersey jam venue opened til 5 AM in late 1960s into early 1970.
The screening will be followed by an all-star jam session that will include Van Zandt and other E Street band members David Sancious, Ernest “Boom” Carter and Vini “Mad Dog” Lopez, along with Southside Johnny and others.
