Every Umphrey’s McGee fan has their preferred sound and style of the group–whether you like the dancey side or the more euphoric, anthemic offerings, there’s something for everyone with the Chicago sextet. 

While Umphrey’s has the ability to blend and accentuate any genre of music, at their root is a rock band who can write a really good rock song.  “Crucial Taunt” is lurking in the shallows as the band’s next arena-shaking rock song, they just might not know it yet. 

In heavy rotation following its 2012 debut, “Crucial Taunt” underwent a few stylistic changes to give it more of a prog-rock edge and the song became a beast of its very own But, sadly, after receiving just five plays in 2014, “Crucial Taunt’ disappeared, appearing just once in 2016 before its triumphant return the other night in Milwaukee. Hopefully this is the start of a new era for the song as Umphrey’s embrace its rock and roll side.
