Bruce Springsteen Honors Nelson Mandela in South Africa

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band kicked off their first show in South Africa with a debut of The Special A.K.A’s “Free Nelson Mandela.” Performing at the Bellville Velodrome in Cape Town, the band honored the fallen icon with the song bearing his name along with dedicating “We Are Alive” to Mandela in the encore. In addition to the Mandela tributes, The Boss ran through his typical marathon setlist that featured a solid mix of new and old with cuts from his latest #1 album High Hopes featuring Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, who joined the group on stage.

And for bonus coverage, here is Bruce taking his customary stage dive into the South African crowd. The band will return to Cape Town tonight.
