Boyd Tinsley Appears on CNN to Talk Charlottesville

August 16, 2017

Dave Matthews Band violinist Boyd Tinsley appeared on CNN yesterday to talk about the events that occurred in his hometown of Charlottesville over the weekend, where a violent white nationalist rally claimed the life of Heather Heyer and injured a number of others.

“This is not Charlottesville,” Tinsley said. “This is not what we’re about.” While the violinist had no specific comment on how President Trump has handled the crisis, he did say that “there’s never really been a big racial problem at all” in the town. “Or any really racial problem at all in Charlottesville. So, just the thought of this is pretty mind-boggling.”

“I’ve never seen anything like this before,” he told host Brooke Baldwin. “It got me angry and it’s gotten everyone in this community angry, and I think around the nation and probably around the world.”
