As It Turns Out, Bob Weir was a Dominant High School Soccer Coach in Texas (Not That Bob Weir)

April 18, 2017

Names are fun and here’s another Bob Weir out there in America doing great work.

Weir was the head soccer coach at Plano High in Texas and had a damn impressive career dominating the high school soccer circuit.

In his 35-year tenure, Weir only had two losing seasons. He collected his 500th victory in February of 2012 with a win over Richardson and would lead the Wildcats to yet another sectional title and the overall number one seed in the district playoffs. Weir has also won a Texas-record SIX state titles and earned himself FSHSA National Soccer Coach of the Year in 2009.

Certainly a minor honor in Weir’s life, he was also featured as a part of Sports Illustrated‘s Faces in the Crowd series. Weir, who jumped aboard at Plano in 1978, retired in 2012 at the age of 60.

This concludes a look into the lives of other people who share names with your favorite musicians.
