Jimmy Fallon took the reigns of The Tonight Show this week, bringing the famed late night show back to New York City for the first time in almost forty years. Joining Fallon on set are The Roots, who also served as house band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. The popular Philadelphia outfit provide another dynamic to the already well-written show, making skits as well as musical performances more interesting than every other late night show.

Drummer Questlove allowed Okayplayer to follow him around prior to the premiere on Monday, showcasing a day in the life of The Tonight Show drummer. The episode drew a record 11.3 million viewers and featured Will Smith and U2, the latter of whom invited The Roots to perform their song “Ordinary Love” with them at the end of the show. Take a look at the two-part documentary backstage at 30 Rock.
