Trey Anastasio Joins Bob Weir at Wanee for Grateful Dead, Phish and Lady Gaga Covers

April 23, 2017

Bob Weir’s set at Wanee Festival last night started with a lengthy acoustic section as the Grateful Dead guitarist welcomed Fare Thee Well bandmate and fellow Wanee performer Trey Anastasio on stage for a reunion that spanned five songs including material from the Grateful Dead, Phish and surprisingly, Lady Gaga.

The pairing marked the first time the two found each other on stage since Phish’s October stop in Nashville where Weir hopped on stage for the entire second set. This time, it was Anastasio joining Weir’s set as he emerged for “Deep Elem Blues” and the following “Friend of the Devil,” “Bird Song,” Phish’s “Miss You” (which the two played together in Nashville) and Lady Gaga’s latest single “Million Reasons.”
