Galactic’s Robert Mercurio and Ben Ellman produced the next album from Lyrics Born which is set for release on May 5 (and is currently available for pre-order). The Bay Area-based artist relocated to New Orleans to record Real People. He explains,“This is my eighth album, and I’m continually looking to do things that neither I, nor anyone else has done yet. I knew after the 80’s electro funk feel of “As U Were” and the crazy eclectic ultra-lyrical Latyrx The Second Album, I wanted to do something really soulful, organic, earthy, and with an honest,unpretentious, funk feel. That is basically New Orleans. It’s the one true music town in America, maybe in the world for that matter. As an artist and a person, I always felt like I identified with the culture, the sensibilities, the lifestyle, and the people. All the music that producers Rob and Ben of Galactic would feed me was such a perfect fit for my voice, my vibe, etc. It was effortless.” Today we premiere “Rock-Rock-Away” where he is joined by Mercurio, Ellman and all of Galactic.
