The Chicago Cubs are well on their way to their first World Series in 108 years. Yes, that is a very long time. And yes, they did run into a rare buzzsaw moment from Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw last night but the Cubbies finally have a touch of destiny about them, just losing their first postseason game last night.

With the journey nearly complete (and if you ask any Cubs fan, it’s never over until it’s literally over) longtime notable fans of the luck-stricken team are resurfacing to soak in every last moment of joy that this team brings. And the other night at Wrigley Field, superfan Eddie Vedder, along with friends Chris Chelios and John Cusack took in a thrilling 8-3 win over the Dodgers.

The game was something out of a dream, with the Dodgers fighting back to tie the game at 3, only to have Cubs pinch hitter Miguel Montero jack a dinger over the ivy at Wrigley, giving them a four-run lead and one they would not relinquish. It was so good, in fact, that Vedder, Chelios and Cusack all shared this painfully awkward high five during the game.
