Noted Basketball Enthusiast Chris Bosh Visits with Gary Clark Jr. in Miami

Miami Heat power forward Chris Bosh is currently away from the team due to a blood clot scare (a similar injury that kept him out for the second half of last season) and while Bosh awaits important test results, he rolled through The Fillmore in Miami Beach to visit with friend Gary Clark Jr., who was performing on his latest swing through the Sunshine State. The blues guitarist posted a picture of the two backstage on his Instagram, adding, “Chris Bosh came through last night. Respect.”

Bosh actually has some guitar chops himself, as the 11-time All Star and two-time World Champion is slowly picking up the craft. During last year’s offseason, Bosh posted a series of videos to his Instagram showing him working on a few chords. In a post on his website entitled “Why I’m Learning to Play the Guitar,” Bosh explained his motivation for picking up an instrument at this point in his life.

“I’ve always wanted to play a musical instrument. I started learning the piano in Toronto but stopped playing out of frustration,” he said. “I figured if I kept working at it no matter how frustrated I get, I’d for sure be playing in six months. That’s the angle I take with learning anything new: Just be patient and don’t give up, and it’ll eventually happen.” He also said that his kids “love to hear me play” and his wife “can’t get enough,” adding, “She was raised on rock and roll, and we really connected through sharing music back in our dating days (and we still do).”

Watch Bosh roll through some chords below.

Hopefully Bosh doesn’t have too much time in the very near future to learn more chords as the 32-24 Miami Heat will need the all-star for the rest of the way, assuming his health is in good shape. The team currently sits at third in the East behind the Toronto Raptors (a favorite of Dallas Green) and the evil Cleveland Cavaliers. In the meantime, keep doing you, Bosh.
