Aron Magner and Jamie Shields are the founding keyboard players for livetronica pioneers The Disco Biscuits and theNEWDEAL. In the latest episode of our Conversation series, the longtime friends and colleagues join Relix editor-in-chief Dean Budnick to reflect on their personal relationship as well as their musical collaborations over the years.

Both Magner and Shields will appear at the Beanstalk Music and Mountains Festival, which will take place on June 10-12 in the scenic Southern Rocky Mountain locale of Westcliffe, CO. 

In Part One of the Conversation, they look back on their initial meeting, the origins of livetronica and the nature of their improvisational musical exchanges.

In Part Two of the Conversation, they discuss the nature of their improv, revisit their early days at New York City’s Wetlands Preserve and examine the concert poster that brought them together again 15 years later for this very conversation.
