It was a warm homecoming for Queens native Paul Simon at the Forest Hills stadium for what might have been his penultimate show in the U.S. Following a short European tour in the fall, Simon told the NY Times earlier in the week that he might be wrapping up a career spanning most of six decades.

Surrounded by nine accomplished international musicians, Simon easily slid between Afropop, reggae and American rock. Touring in support of his excellent new release, Stranger to Stranger Simon treated the enthusiastic crowd to a set sampling most of his songbook, including favorites “Boy In The Bubble,” “Homeward Bound” and a Celtic-infused “Duncan” Between songs, Simon regaled the crowd with tales of South American shaman and wrestling gorillas. Simon somehow managed to incorporate world music into his songs seamlessly, more like a native that a visitor from Queens.
