John Brown’s Body: Kings and Queens in Dub

With the help of some of the most sought-after dub architects on the scene, John Brown’s Body reimagine their 2013 release Kings And Queens on Kings and Queens in Dub. The album’s remix credits are broad and impressive, including Lord Echo (The Black Seeds), Dennis Bovell, Yesking and Michael G (Easy Star All-Stars), Dubmatix and Dubfader (10 ft. Ganja Plant). In Dub lives up to JBB’s reputation for incorporating traditional and contemporary styles alike: Dubfader’s “Worldwide Dub” sports a classic feel and laidback tempo, while Ticklah’s “Land of Plenty Dub” explores a more subtly diverse, comparatively speedier and digitally infused sonic landscape. Mixed by Lord Echo, “My Guiding Dub” shines, most prominently utilizing vocals from the source material. In Dub is an effective and enjoyable reconstruction of a successful album, and it’s fantastic on its own.
