Missing Cats: Larry Brown Amen

With his band in the midst of a hiatus, Widespread Panic keyboardist JoJo Hermann enlisted longtime friend and guitarist Sherman Ewing to play on his latest collaborative record, Larry Brown Amen. The duo, along with friends—most notably Luther and Cody Dickinson—deliver 12 tracks overflowing with confidence and emotion. From the blistering “1/2 Way to the Top” to the delicate, introspective “How We Go from Here,” where Hermann proclaims, “Time will never take away what we had/ Looking back I can’t see no regrets,” this debut record never lulls. As Panic spends time out from the spotlight this year, fans of the Athens, Ga., band will find comfort in the sounds of Missing Cats in the meantime.
