Sean Bones: Buzzards Boy

Frenchkiss

Brooklyn, N.Y. indie-reggae sensation Sean Bones is a selfdescribed “late night tropical disease party.” But Buzzards Boy proves that Bones is a versatile musician capable of more than dubby island tunes. For his sophomore effort, he partnered with Shane Stoneback (Sleigh Bells, Neon Indian) for a record that is a little more indie and a little less Jamaica, but still feels like your trustiest pair of summer shoes. The keyboard hook from the album’s first single, “Here Now,” is catchy enough for an Apple advertisement before settling into the sun-kissed “Hit Me Up,” which features lazy steel drums, an inviting bass hook and spacey sound effects. The reverby breakdowns of “Wondering” and “Cobra Trip” further contribute to the summery melting pot.
